Description:

An existing house rebuilt from the inside out, with a new swimming pool and a comprehensive upgrade of the building’s energy performance. MiP Architecture was responsible for the architectural package, the interior design and the lighting design.

The heaviest intervention was structural. The original concrete staircase was demolished and replaced by a folded metal stair, placed directly opposite the main entrance so that it reads as the central gesture of the house. The pool was lifted above ground level and aligned with a long kitchen window, so that the water sits at eye level from within and the interior and exterior are held in the same plane.
